The Road to Radicalization

My entire life I’ve put police officers on a pedestal. There are many reasons why, but I suppose the most basic of these is that they put their lives at risk every day in order to keep their neighbors safe. When a police officer asked me to do something, Ialways trusted that they would only have asked if it was in the interests of furthering public safety and would always comply. I trusted the police and believed that an officer of the law would always do what’s right.

If you’ll notice, all of the verbs in the previous paragraph are in the past tense. So, what happened? Occupy Oakland.
